Community

I have worked in various community settings, and enjoy being part of group projects. I enjoy passing on my enthusiasm for art making and self-expression. In the past I have run weekly art sessions for the residents of a scope home.

I have been part of a team at a local primary school where we helped the children create a mosaic seat for the playground, influenced by an idea by the barcelona artist ,gaudi.

My latest project has been working with people with learning disabilities at a day centre, creating a totem style sculpture, which involved looking at american indian culture, and finding the equivalent symbols in our own culture and daily lives, to create three relief cylinders, which when joined together form a totem pole. The finished sculpture will be placed outside in the centre’s grounds. Soon I am due to start clay sessions with ‘arts for health’ participants, with the emphasis on the benefits of the therapeutic aspect of clay.
